The great thing about leaving...

is all the food. I was taken for lunch today by a couple of my co-workers to the ritziest spot on campus. Which doesn't say much, just that the price is steep. But I enjoyed my food, and the company. I went for the farfalle, because one of the guys ordered the halibut, and thes erver said that it was a smaller portion, and I was starving. I don't normally order pasta when I'm out, and even DH expressed surprised that I did, but it was the sort of day that I really wanted to eat something heavy. For dessert, the guys had a chocolate thyme pate, my girlfriend had the Snickers pie with butterscotch sauce, and I had the strawberry rhubarb crumble. I know, mine was the most boring, but I wanting some fruit.

Yeah, I never order pasta out either, but it's just fine if it's really tasty. We grew rhubarb one year, but nobody really liked it, so we never grew it again. I make fruit crisps because dh isn't into dough. In fact, whenever I make pie, he insists that it be a single crust pie. And you know how I love my crusts.

Well I don't know if it was that great, but it was good. I think the only way rhubarb is good is when it's put with strawberries. I think that's a great way to use up some frozen fruit, maybe I should make one as well. You love your crusts too? You're not shades of grey, you're shades of your mother! LOL!!

My husband made "Apple Hand Pies". That title sort of grosses me out. Anyway, it is an Emeril recipe made with phyllo dough and apples and cheddar cheese. He served it with homemade vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce. Do I even have to say it?

The phyllo pastry and the apples sound great. But the rest of it, my teeth are rotting off and I've gained 10 lbs just reading about it.
